Updates for September

As September draws on and we get closer to the winter I am getting more excited about the onset of the next academic year. We continue to working closely with the University of Nottingham, particularly the Professional Development Team and we are about to embark on our 12th year of delivering ILM accredited courses for them to staff across the institution. Course bookings are looking good and these programmes continue to be a popular learning option for people. It is always a privileged facilitate these courses as we meet so many folks from across the University and work with a very wide range of diverse staff groups.

New for us this year is the opportunity to partner directly with an academic department to deliver ILM leadership and management accredited workshops within the framework of a post-graduate programme.  The School of Geography has launched its new and pioneering MSc in Environmental Leadership and Management and we are thrilled to have a core module within this degree which is dedicated to our level 5 ILM leadership and management. Students are recruiting on to the degree and now it’s ‘all stations go’ to make sure that we are ready when they arrive in October. It’s challenging for all of us as this has never been done before – but with the challenge comes many opportunities – including the chance to deliver our learning in the University’s landmark Teaching and Learning Hub and make use of all the amazing technological facilities. I was lucky enough this week to catch up with the learning technologists and academic team and I’m now working out how to employ all these new techniques into my teaching to make the programme even better for our learners.
